    5 Things to Do This Labor Day Weekend Around Seattle!

    Labor Day Weekend is upon us! Some of us have our yearly traditions set, some of us are still thinking about what to do, and some of us are saying “Dude what is Labor Day? …Wait I have the day off…YES!” Regardless of what your situation is, there is a three day weekend starting today at around 5pm for most of us and there are many different things you can be doing with this free time! We have rounded up RESG’s 5 Things to do this Labor Day Weekend around Seattle.

    What Is Labor Day you ask? Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

    Living in the Seattle area and more specifically within Washington state, we have so many options of places to travel, terrain to hike, camping sites, and cool parks to check out. If your looking to expand your ‘to-do list’ or haven’t decided what to do yet we have gather five completely different cool things to do in the Seattle area!

    5 Things to Do This Labor Day Weekend  Around Seattle

    1. Bumbershoot – This epic annual music and art festival hosted in the downtown Seattle Center is entering its 45th year of operation! With three complete days filled with music of all genres, comedy, theater, arts, and more, there is a little something for everybody! Our tips to maximizing your fun at Bumbershoot would be:

    • Check the weather! (Seattle is known to rain and it is known to shine, and sometimes its a combination of both!
    • Check out the map before you go! You don’t want to miss your favorite events so map out a game plan before you go

    2. Ellensburg Rodeo – Grab your Wranglers, boots, and cowboy hats because an hour and half drive east of Seattle is one of the nation’s top 10 professional rodeos. The Ellensburg Fair and Rodeo brings in over 600 contestants and 10’s of thousands of attendees. Make sure to check out the ‘Behind The Chutes’ beer garden and catch a live performance at the gazebo in the middle of the fair! If you haven’t planed on attending the festivities at this point, accommodations may be very difficult to find but another 30 minutes east of Ellensburg you will most likely be able to find open rooms in Yakima.

    3. Oak Harbor Music Festival – Another music festival with a wide range of genres and over 30 different acts! In Historic Downtown Oak Harbor there will be two stages, two beer gardens, and vendors galore! The event is free and there is a $25 fee for campers and RV’s if you want to stay in the area for a steal. Many of the acts are from the local Washington, Oregon, and Canada area’s and the event raises money for the local community.

    4. Sunday Ice Cream Cruise (On Lake Union) – This looks like a fun event for the entire family! A funky fun cruise around Lake Union and the areas attractions features humorous narration of Old Seattle, ice cream, and hot chocolate. Rain or shine the 45-50 minute cruise tour of Lake Union is setting sail at 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm.5 Things to Do This Labor Day Weekend  Around Seattle!

    5. Ski Bonkers 4 day Sale at Westfield Southcenter – 1pm until 10pm Friday the 4th-Monday the 7th, Ski Bonkers will be hosting their Labor Day Weekend only mega sale. Come check out the sale and get stocked up for this coming winter or bring your old gear that doesn’t fit or needs upgraded and sell it at the event! Free lift ticket to Sun Peaks Resort in Canada with every purchase and there will be experienced ski and snowboard instructors on hand to answer any questions (they will be wearing yellow shirts).
